The Health Policy Institute of Ohio will host the second annual statewide Health Policy Summit on Thursday Oct. 9, 2025, at The Event Center at Mitchell Hall on the Columbus State Community College campus in Columbus, Ohio. The Summit will highlight and promote policies that offer significant return on investment, with a focus on evidence-based strategies that improve outcomes for children, working-age adults and older adults. It will equip policymakers and stakeholders with the tools and insights needed to prioritize impactful solutions in a rapidly changing political and economic environment.
The Summit builds on HPIO’s mission to advance evidence-informed policies that improve health, achieve equity, and lead to sustainable healthcare spending in Ohio.

An ethical framework for decision-making in a time of scarce resources

Breakout sessions
The 2025 Ohio Health Policy Summit will explore strategies that improve health and well-being while reducing healthcare spending. Attendees will be able to choose from three tracks to hear leaders from throughout Ohio who have implemented promising initiatives in the following areas:
Children and youth
- Driving impact through policy and practice: Strengthening Ohio’s school-based health care infrastructure
- Improving mental health for Ohio children with higher levels of need
Working-age adults and workforce
- From concept to counsel: How limited representation became a part of Hamilton County's eviction mitigation ecosystem
- System-spanning solutions: The power of integrated deflection partnerships to improve health and community safety
Older adults and aging populations
- Assessment to action: Policy innovations to support older Ohioans
- Exploring innovative partnerships that support health and independence
Workshops
The workshops will provide tactical training for skills relevant to the theme and integral in moving policy forward. Workshops should be interactive training sessions designed to engage participants in active learning, skill-building or problem-solving.
Data for advocacy
Connecting the dots: Franklin County Public Health’s internal and external methods for sharing health literate data
Communicating about what works
- Policy in practice: How to turn data and stories into legislative impact
Community-driven solutions
- Using human-centered design to co-create community-driven solutions
Other policy skills workshop
- Introduction to cost-benefit analysis
Poster Session
Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts doing important work around the state to discuss their research findings and hear about promising program outcomes. Reasonable Accommodations: If you require an accommodation to participate in this event, please indicate your need on your registration form. HPIO will work with the venue to provide reasonable and necessary accommodations.
Continuing Education (CE): This program is being submitted to the National Association of Social Workers, The Supreme Court of Ohio and National Commission for Health Education Credentialing for 5.5 continuing education credits. In the event the CE applications are not approved, you will receive a full refund for your payment. Individuals signing up to receive CE will need to sign in and sign out at the registration table, and complete an evaluation to receive credit. Failure to do so will result in no credits being awarded. Refunds are not issued for failure to comply with the requirements.
Cancellation Policy: The last day to cancel registration for a full refund is Sept. 25, 2025. Cancellations received between Sept. 26, 2025, and Oct. 2, 2025, will be issued a partial refund of 50% of the purchase price. Cvent’s processing fee is non-refundable for all cancellation dates and registration types. Cancellations made after Oct. 2, 2025, are ineligible for a refund. If you opted to pay with a check and cancel your registration between Sept. 26,-Oct. 2, 2025, and have not remitted payment, you will be required to submit a $100 cancellation fee, and an invoice will be emailed to you. Those paying with checks who have not submitted payment and cancel their registration between Oct. 3 and Oct. 9 will be required to remit $200 or the full cost of registration as a cancellation fee, and an invoice will be emailed to you. Those paying with a check who cancel and do not pay the cancellation fees will be required to pay in advance for any future HPIO events.
