Federal health policy impact on Ohio
Background
Recent federal health policy changes, including from HR 1, the federal reconciliation bill sometimes referred to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” or the “Working Families Tax Cuts Act,” will impact services related to healthcare, housing, food access and more. For example. HR 1 restricts funding for health programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and state Medicaid programs. These changes will impact the many Ohioans and Ohio families who rely on these supports, particularly in context of growing cost of living and healthcare affordability pressures.
HPIO's Federal Health Policy Impact in Ohio project covers these policy changes in detail and describes how policymakers in the state will need to account for these developments as part of administering programs like Medicaid and SNAP, which can have significant impacts on the health of Ohioans and Ohio families in the future.
