HPIO creates online guide to state health rankings and scorecards

Several national organizations compile health indicators to produce online state scorecards or rankings that provide easy access to meaningful information about the status of population health and the health care system. While these data are typically available in other places, these websites add value by compiling the most relevant statistics in one place and by highlighting key indicators for assessing the overall health of a state, county, or region over time.

In order for Ohio policymakers and those who influence them to make the most of these tool, the Health Policy Institute of Ohio has created an online guide to state health rankings and scorecards.

The purpose of the guide is to provide health policy stakeholders with a list of the most comprehensive national rankings and scorecards with state-level health data and guidance about the advantages and limitations of each.

Attend HPIO's 2026 Health Policy Summit on Aug. 26

The Summit will draw insights from HPIO’s 2026 Health Value Dashboard to focus attention on the factors that drive population health and healthcare spending and build momentum for policy priorities that lead to improved health and well-being for Ohioans.
