Dental Care #1 Unmet Need for Ohio Children / Low Income Adults

According to a new data brief from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), dental care remains the number one unmet health care need for Ohio children and low income adults.  The finding is based on data from the 2004 Ohio Family Health Survey, the 2004 Behavioral Risk Factor Survey and the Ohio Third Grade (2004-05) and Head Start (2002-03) Oral Health Surveys.

The data brief is titled Oral Health and Access to Dental Care for Ohioans, 2007. A two-page executive summary is also available. Both downloads are in PDF format.

ODH expects to soon produce a separate more detailed report on the findings from its 2004-05 oral health survey of over 14,000 third graders. Later this year, the Department will unveil a Web-based oral health surveillance system through which the most current collection of county-level oral health-related data will be a click away.
