There are now 13 Ohioans who have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, the state reported Friday (Source: “13 Ohioans have tested positive for the coronavirus,” Columbus Dispatch, March 13, 2020).

The number more than doubled from Thursday, when five people had tested positive for the disease.

State health director Dr. Amy Acton reported there are nine males and four females in Ohio with confirmed cases of coronavirus. They range in age from 34 to 66 with a median age of 48 and are located in 6 of the state’s 88 counties.

Four of the positive tests came from the Cleveland Clinic and another four came from a UC Health hospital in Butler County, DeWine said.

“None of this should surprise us, none of this should alarm us...we believe there are many people in Ohio today who are carrying the virus,” DeWine said.
