Ohio has second-most 5-star nursing homes in U.S. News rating

In the latest edition of U.S. News and World Report’s annual ranking of nursing homes, Ohio is second only to California in the number of facilities receiving a five-star rating (Source: “Ohio has second most five-star rated nursing homes in latest U.S. News rating,” Cleveland Plain Dealer, March 5, 2015).

Ohio has 165 nursing homes with the five-star rating, about 17 percent of the state's nursing homes.

California has the greatest number of five-star nursing homes, with 388 (about 32 percent of the total number of nursing homes). Ohio is next, followed by Florida, with 157 (about 23 percent of the state's nursing homes), Illinois and Texas.

In its seventh year, Best Nursing Homes provides information on care, safety, health inspections, staffing and other data for nearly 16,000 nursing homes across the country.
