ACA enrollment tops 234k in Ohio
At the end of the regular federal marketplace open enrollment last Sunday, more than 234,000 Ohioans had signed up for coverage, according to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services data released this week (Source: “More than 234,000 Ohioans sign up for Obamacare,” Columbus Dispatch, Feb. 18, 2015).
In the Columbus metropolitan area, 38,780 people signed up for coverage. That compares to 47,388 Ohioans who signed up for coverage in the Cleveland-Elyria metropolitan area; 37,639 in the Cincinnati metropolitan area (including only those portions of the metro area in Ohio and Indiana); and 14,518 in the Dayton metropolitan area.
By comparison, about 155,000 Ohioans signed up for coverage during the 2013-14 open enrollment period.
Nationwide, an estimated 11.4 million people signed up for health coverage, with 8.6 million of them in states such as Ohio that opted to use healthcare.gov.
