Ohio 37th for child tobacco prevention
Ohio ranks 37th for childhood tobacco prevention, according to a new report from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and several other groups (Source: “Ohio 37th for childhood tobacco prevention,”Dayton Business Journal, Dec. 12, 2014).
The report highlights state efforts to prevent kids from smoking and help smokers quit. The report reveals that 15.1 percent of Ohio high schoolers smoke and that if that number were cut in half, it would prevent 293,930 kids from becoming adult smokers, saving 103,680 lives and $5.1 billion in future health care costs.
