Tobacco opponents release poll showing Ohioans support $1 cigarette tax hike

A new poll conducted for a group of statewide health organizations shows a majority of Ohioans support a significant hike cigarette taxes (Source: “New Poll by Health Groups Says Ohio Voters Favor $1 a Pack Tax on Cigarettes,” Ideastream, April 29, 2014)

Officials with the American Lung Association say the poll shows 63 percent of Ohio voters favor an increase of a dollar a pack. The Association said the poll also found that Ohioans support a matching tax for other tobacco producs such as e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah and pipe tobacco.
