155k Ohioans signed up for ACA plans, feds say

New enrollment data released this week by the federal Department of Health and Human Services shows that nearly 155,000 Ohioans signed up for private health coverage under the ACA (Source: “New Obamacare data shows surge in Ohio and nation, but many questions remain,” Cleveland Plain Dealer,  May 1, 2014)

Nationally, more than 8 million Americans signed up for coverage through the ACA marketplaces during the first open enrollment period, which ended March 31.

The Ohio ACA enrollment of 154,668 represented a surge, as enrollment was much lower, at 78,925, as of March 1. Groups with federal grants and others who supported the ACA's goals mounted high-publicity enrollment campaigns in the closing weeks.
