Survey finds Ohio nursing home residents satisfied with care

A new Ohio Department of Aging survey found that nursing home residents rate their satisfaction in the “B+” range (Source: “Ohio nursing home residents rate facilities well in state survey,” Cleveland Plain Dealer, March 3, 2014).

According to an ODA press release, more than 27,000 nursing home and 11,000 assisted living facility residents in more than 1,500 facilities participated in the survey, answering if they liked the facility and would recommend it to others, among other questions.

“The Resident Satisfaction Survey has long been a tool for Ohio consumers and their families to identify which facilities in their communities can best meet their needs, but it also has evolved to be a valuable resource for facility leadership and staff as well,” Beverley Laubert, the State Long-term Care Ombudsman, whose office directed the survey, said in the news release. “The new priority index included in this survey helps facilities focus their quality improvement efforts on areas that matter most to residents.”
