2013 County Health Rankings released, Geauga on top

Geauga County ranked first in overall health among Ohio’s 88 counties in the national study for the first time in the latest edition of the annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps created by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Population Health Sciences (Source: “Geauga County tops latest national health rankings; Cuyahoga struggles,” Cleveland Plain Dealer, March 21, 2013).

Putnam, Delaware, Medina and Holmes counties round out the top five in overall health outcomes in Ohio.

The analysis uses data collected at the community level to rank every county in every state in the nation based on health outcomes (premature death, quality of life and poor birth results) and health factors (smoking, unsafe sex, access to health care, education and environment comprehensive).
