The Health Policy Institute has released its Ohio Medicaid Basics 2013 (pdf, 20 pages).

Updated every two years to coincide with the state biennium budget, Ohio Medicaid Basics provides an expansive overview of the Medicaid program in Ohio, broken down into easy-to-follow sections. A two-page executive summary also is available.

Among the topics included in the document are:

  • Financing of Medicaid
  • Eligibility
  • Benefit groups
  • Administration
  • Delivery system
  • Spending
  • Current and proposed state initiatives

Also this week, HPIO has released an updated edition of its policy brief titled "Policy considerations for Medicaid expansion in Ohio." The brief provides background on the issue of Medicaid expansion, outlines policy considerations and provides a summary analysis of the costs and benefits of a Medicaid expansion. Originally released in Janaury, the brief has been updated with data from the Ohio Medicaid Expansion Study.
