Ohio moved from 36th last year to 35th this year in an annual ranking of the health of states (Source: "Ohio near bottom of state health rankings," Dayton Daily News, Dec. 12, 2012).

According to America's Health Ranking, which is published annually by the United Health Foundation, American Public Health Association and Partnership for Prevention, Ohio's 25 percent smoking rate among adults (43rd in the nation) and 30 percent obesity rate among adults (38th in the nation) contributed to the state's low ranking.
