HPIO conference in May to highlight Ohio innovation
The Health Policy Institute of Ohio will be hosting in May its inaugural Health Innovations in Ohio conference highlighting Ohio-based projects that demonstrate promise for reducing costs while improving health.

The purpose of the conference, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 3 at the Conference Center at NorthPointe in Lewis Center, is to showcase promising practices and innovative health policy solutions that will help to improve health and reduce costs, and to equip and motivate policymakers and other stakeholders to build upon the successful efforts that are already being implemented in Ohio.
The presenting sponsor for the conference is AARP Ohio.
“AARP is thrilled to be the presenting sponsor of HPIO’s Health Innovations 2012 Conference,” said Ron Bridges, Director of Government Affairs at AARP Ohio. “As consumers, our members want and need to see improvement in the care they receive and Health Innovations 2012 is an exciting opportunity to the call attention to some very important voluntary efforts underway to improve health care delivery in Ohio.” The event will include several panel discussions focused on innovations in the following areas: health and wellness; quality improvement; access to care; care coordination; and outcomes-based payment.
The luncheon keynote address will be given by Dr. Arnold Milstein, MD, MPH. Milstein is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Clinical Excellence Research Center at Stanford University; Medical Director of the Pacific Business Group on Health; U.S. Health Care Thought Leader at Mercer Health & Benefits; and co-founder of both the Leapfrog Group and the Consumer-Purchaser Disclosure Project.
Organizations supporting the event include Kaiser Permanente, Mercy Health Partners (Toledo), Summa Health Care Foundation, Bailey Cavaleri, The Success Group and ProMedica.
