Survey: 1 in 9 Ohio adults lack health coverage

The latest edition of the Ohio Health Issues Poll has found that 18 percent of Ohioans age 18 to 64 is uninsured (Source: “18 percent of Ohio adults uninsured,” Columbus Dispatch, Aug. 26, 2011)

The telephone survey of 946 adults last month found 18 percent didn’t have insurance at the time of the poll, compared with 12 percent in 2006.

“Having health insurance is a critical first step to getting access to care,” said Jennifer Chubinski, director of community research for the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, which conducts the OHIP.
