Survey: ACA motivating physicians to collaborate with hospitals

In light of federal health reform,  physicians are becoming increasing eager to increase collaboration with hospitals, according to a new PricewaterhouseCoopers report (Source: “Physician-hospital collaboration accelerates because of healthcare reform,” MedCity News, April 20, 2011).

The report, entitled “From Courtship to Marriage: A Two-Part Series on Physician-Hospital Alignment” found that doctors see a need for better collaboration and care management, with two-thirds of physicians surveyed indicated that hospitals need physicians to reduce inpatient costs. Further, more than 90 percent of physicians surveyed said hospitals should involve them in governance activities, such as serving on boards, being in management and taking part in performance improvement.
