Kasich allocates $36 million to fight prescription drug abuse

Gov. John Kasich announced Tuesday that the state will use $36 million in federal and local fund efforts to fight prescription drug abuse (Source: “$36M to be used to fight prescription drug abuse in Ohio,” Dayton Daily News, April 5, 2011).

Local Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services board will spend $8.9 million as a local match to qualify for $27 million in federal funds from the Department of Education’s Rehabilitative Services Administration.

The funds will be used to provide treatment for drug addiction or severe mental illness and prepare residents for employment.
