50% Dataset Nears Completion for Ohio Family Health Survey

The Ohio Family Health Survey has completed 50 percent of its scheduled 43,000 interviews.

This 50 percent dataset will be used by the primary investigators of 11 funded projects to begin to work on preliminary analyses of the data.  It is anticipated that the full dataset will be available to the public in February 2009.

The Survey is one of the largest and most comprehensive state-level health status and insurance surveys conducted in the United States. The instrument gathers in-depth representative information concerning health care coverage, health care access, health system usage and self-reported health outcomes. The primary purpose of the OFHS is to provide policy-makers with information about the health status, health care utilization, health insurance coverage and health care access of Ohioans.  A major goal of the 2008 OFHS is to provide data that will be comparable to the 2004 data for trend and “change over time” analysis.  This information will be used to assist Ohio’s health care initiatives.

The OFHS is being administered by The Ohio State University and the Health Policy Institute of Ohio and is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Department of Insurance, the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Mental Health.
