Ohio to receive $15.6 million in Medicaid settlement

Under a settlement announced Friday by Attorney General Marc Dann, Ohio will collect $15.6 million from drug maker Bristol-Myers Squibb for overcharging the state's Medicaid program through "inaccurate pricing." Dann's office also said the company "illegally marketed an anti-psychotic drug and induced physicians and pharmacists to prescribe and dispense drugs against U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations." According to the article, the alleged activity took place between 2002 and 2005, with the total settlement among all the states involved in the suit valued at over $403 million. Bristol-Myers will also pay about "$112 million to the federal Medicare program and publicly funded hospitals."
