State launches $20 million cannabis education campaign

The Ohio Department of Commerce and the One-Ohio Recovery Foundation recently announced a new $20 million statewide public education campaign aimed at helping Ohioans better understand the health and safety risks associated with cannabis use (Source: “Ohio launches $20M targeted marijuana education campaign,” Dayton Daily News, May 21).

Recent polling commissioned by OneOhio found cannabis use among Ohio adults continues to rise. According to the survey, 41% of Ohioans report currently using cannabis, up from 35% in 2024, while nearly half of current users said they consume cannabis daily.

The polling also found attitudes toward cannabis are shifting. About 67% of Ohioans surveyed said cannabis has become more socially acceptable since legalization. Among women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, 51% reported using cannabis, according to the survey data.

The education initiative will include multiple statewide campaigns focused on expectant and prospective mothers, youth and Ohio’s workforce.
