NIH opens research office in East Palestine
The National Institutes of Health this week opened a research office in East Palestine to study the health impacts of the 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment (Source: “Federal health researchers set up shop in East Palestine,” Axios Cleveland, Feb. 5).
Researchers from the University of Kentucky, Yale University and the University of Pittsburgh will enroll residents, coordinate studies and share findings directly with the community. The office anchors a five-year, $10 million NIH-funded initiative, according to an NIH announcement.
