Speakers added to HPIO forum on the role of evidence in policymaking

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio has announced that Jennifer Haberkorn of Politico and Aaron Sharockman of PolitiFact have been added to the slate of speakers for its Oct. 26 forum, “Politics, perceptions and the role of evidence in policymaking.”

The forum, which will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square, will explore the importance of evidence-based decision making, particularly at the state level, and how policymakers and others can determine the credibility of information and overcome opposition to evidence that challenges preconceived partisan ideology.

Ron Haskins of the Brookings Institution will present the keynote on “Evidence-based decision making at the state level (overcoming preconceived partisan ideology).”

Haberkorn, a senior health reporter at Politico, will discuss the current landscape in Washington and Sharockman, the Executive Director at PolitiFact, will discuss “Separating fact from fiction: How to evaluate information and determine its credibility.”
