Ohio General Assembly passes infant mortality prevention bill

The Ohio General Assembly voted in lame duck session this week in favor of implementing new policy initiatives aimed at helping to reduce Ohio's infant mortality rates. Senate Bill 332 enacts recommendations issued by the commission on infant mortality, including equipping organizations with the resources to help pregnant mothers quit smoking and eliminating the sale of crib bumpers. It will now head to Governor Kasich’s desk.

The bill also includes provisions that permit pharmacists to administer injectable drugs, including opioid antagonists and drugs that reduce the risk of preterm birth.
