HPIO forum, training to explore evidence-based policy options

HPIO is hosting a forum Tuesday, April 26, in Dublin titled “Investing in what works: Evidence-based policy prescriptions to improve health value.”

The forum will provide an overview of evidence-based decision making and sources of policy solutions that have been rigorously evaluated and found to be effective. Speakers at the event include Alison Bergum, Lead Researcher, What Works for Health; Stephanie Lee, Interim Assistant Director, Washington State Institute for Public Policy; and Dr. Deena Chisolm, Director, Center for Population Health and Equity Research at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

A training, “Navigating sources of evidence to find policy prescriptions to improve health, education, and income,” will follow from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at no additional cost. The training is intended to help attendees navigate credible evidence guides to identify strategies for use in community health plans and implementation strategies. You must register for the training and forum to participate.

Partial scholarships are available to collaborative community teams representing 2 or more organizations who attend the training together. Click here or contact Sarah Dorn at sdorn@hpio.net for more information.

Also, HPIO is still accepting registrations for its March 17 forum, “Paying for value over volume.” The forum, which will be held at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium, will provide information on the payment reform landscape in Ohio and how Ohio and other states are accelerating the transition to value-based payment systems that incentivize providers to keep patients healthy, and explore ways to address the social determinants of health. Registration for that forum will close on March 11.
