HPIO releases new tools for getting most out of Health Value Dashboard

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio has created summary versions of our recently released Health Value Dashboard to share with policymakers and other stakeholders.

The HPIO Health Value Dashboard is the first ranking of its kind to measure states on the basis of “health value,” placing equal emphasis on population health outcomes and healthcare costs.  The Dashboard also provides a more comprehensive look at other factors that impact population health outcomes and healthcare costs, including evaluating Ohio’s social, economic and physical environments.

HPIO is hosting a webinar on two different dates in February to provide an overview of the Dashboard and explain how to use the tool. We also are releasing an Excel spreadsheet so that stakeholders can more easily use the Ohio data in the dashboard.

Our website has a number of new resources and tools related to the dashboard, including:

  • Complete 2014 Health Value Dashboard (including methodology and sources)
  • Excel spreadsheet of raw data for Ohio
  • Information about upcoming webinars
  • Two-page overview
  • Four-page overview (includes a snapshot of Ohio’s greatest health challenges and strengths and a snapshot of disparities)
  • State ranking maps
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Dashboard

You may also request full color hard copies of the Dashboard on our website, in limited quantities.

HPIO partnered with the University of Cincinnati Economics Center to compile and rank the data for the dashboard. The metrics were selected by a wide array of experts who participated in the advisory group and workgroups convened by HPIO.
