$2.6M awarded to help Ohioans enroll in exchange

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced this week that three Ohio organizations will split $2.6 million in federal funds to assist consumers enroll in health coverage through the federally facilitated marketplace (Source: “$2.6 million awarded to help Ohioans enroll in exchange,” Associated Press via Akron Beacon Journal, Sept. 9, 2014).

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks was awarded nearly $2.2 million, HRS/Erase, Inc. was given $275,000 and the Midwest Asian Health Association was awarded $149,397.

The foodbank association also received most of the state’s grant money from HHS last year to walk residents through the process of signing up for health plans. Federal officials announced $60 million in  navigator grant awards to 90 organizations across the country, according to an HHS release.

Ohio is one of 36 states using the federal website, HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment starts Nov. 15.
