More than 2 million ACA applications have data errors, HHS reports

More than 2 million people nationally who got health insurance through ACA marketplaces have data discrepancies that could jeopardize coverage, a government document shows (“Data discrepancies in health sign-ups,”Associated Press via Akron Beacon Journal, June 4, 2014).

About one in four people who signed up have discrepancies, exposing some consumers to repayment demands, or possibly even loss of coverage, if they got too generous a subsidy.

The seven-page slide presentation from the Health and Human Services department was provided to the Associated Press as several congressional committees are investigating discrepancies, most of which involve details on income, citizenship and immigration status.
