Ohio program for dual Medicare-Medicaid eligibles to launch in May

Ohio officials announced this week that the state’s MyCare Ohio program for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid will launch in 29 counties in May (Source: “'MyCare Ohio' to Launch in May 2014,” Hannah Report, Jan. 23, 2014).

According to Office of Health Transformation, the program is open to “dually eligible” individuals over the age of 18, including those with disabilities, older adults and those who receive behavioral health services.  The program is Ohio's first integrated care delivery system --  a system of managed care plans selected to coordinate the physical, behavioral and long-term care services for these individuals.

According to information from OHT, enrollment will be phased in through June and July, until all eligible individuals are enrolled in the pilot counties.

Ohio was the third state to reach agreement with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the initiative to coordinate care for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.
