HPIO releases ACA small business enrollment fact sheet, marketplace resource page

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio has created a new two-page fact sheet titled “Ohio Insurance Basics: A closer look at open enrollment for small businesses in 2014” that reviews policy changes in the Affordable Care Act to the small group market that may remove barriers for small businesses seeking coverage. The fact sheet specifically addresses the ACA’s creation of a special annual open enrollment period, from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15, during which health insurers cannot deny coverage to small businesses that fail to meet minimum participation or contribution requirements, both inside and outside of the federally-facilitated SHOP marketplace.

The Institute also has created an online resource page on Ohio’s federally facilitated marketplace. The site includes links to tools to understand enrollment in the marketplace, links for finding assistance with enrollment and analysis from HPIO and other nonpartisan sources.
