Kasich urges legislators to return, pass Medicaid expansion bill

Speaking at a pro-Medicaid expansion rally at the Statehouse, Gov. Kasich urged legislators to return to the capital to extend the program for all Ohioans earning less than 138 percent of the federal poverty level (Source: “Kasich urges legislators to extend Medicaid this summer,” Columbus Dispatch, July 9, 2013).

Supporters of Medicaid expansion want legislators to pass an expansion this summer so that it can go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.

GOP leaders in the House and Senate late last month rejected a provision in fellow Republican Kasich’s budget plan to authorize the expansion, but they promised to work on separate legislation through the summer.
