Ohio gets $169m from feds for long-term care rebalancing
The federal Department of Health and Human Services announced this week that Ohio will be given $169 million to expand access to home- and community-based care for seniors and those with disabilities who are covered by Medicaid (Source: “Ohio receives $169 million to expand Medicaid home-care program,” Columbus Dispatch, June 14, 2013).
Ohio was one of 16 states awarded funding through the Affordable Care Act’s Balancing Incentive Program, or BIP. The additional aid is provided to help states reach a goal of using at least half of their long-term-care spending on non-institutional care by 2015.
Ohio’s BIP application has been posted on the Governor’s Office of Health Transformation’s page on rebalancing long-term care.
