ODH: Local health agencies should plan for 8% cut in federal grants

The Ohio Department of Health this week advised local health agencies to prepare for an 8 percent funding cut from federal grants as a result of the sequestration (Source: “State health department looking for sequester answers,” Zanesville Times Recorder, May 24, 2013).

The 8 percent estimate is the state’s best guess because the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has yet to announce exact cuts to each grant, although the cuts must be implemented by Sept. 30, the end of the federal fiscal year.
