Medicaid expansion fact sheet highlights impact on Ohioans with lower incomes

The Ohio Medicaid Expansion Study, a partnership between the Health Policy Institute of Ohio, the Ohio State University, Regional Economic Models, Inc. and the Urban Institute, has released a new fact sheet on the impact of Medicaid expansion on Ohioans earning less than 100 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL).

The fact sheet includes county-level projections of uninsured adults (19-64 years old) without dependent children who earn less than 100 percent of FPL. That group is significant because without a Medicaid expansion, more than 370,000 adults without dependent children by 2017 are projected to have no access to subsidized health coverage and will likely be uninsured. Those earning more than 100 percent FPL will be eligible for subsidized coverage on the health insurance exchange.
