Ohio Workers Comp Bureau launches workplace wellness grant program

The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation launched this week a program to offer grants to companies that set up workplace wellness programs (Source: “Ohio's Workers Compensation bureau implements a new wellness program,” Statehouse News Bureau via WKSU radio, Feb. 6, 2012).

According to the BWC's Workplace Wellness Grant Program website, the grant program was established to study the effect of a wellness program in reducing incidence and costs of accidents and illness.

“The goal is to control the escalating cost of workers' compensation claims through addressing health risk factors,” the website states. “The WWGP's collateral goals are also to reduce health-care costs for employers, as well as improve the health of the workforce."
