US Congress creates bipartisan Wellness Caucus

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.) announced this week the creation of the Congressional Wellness Caucus, which the legislators hope will shine a spotlight on workplace wellness programs (Source: “Spreading the word on wellness,” Minneapolis Star Tribune, June 13, 2011).

"We want to form this caucus to get those 'best practices' out there, so that small- and medium-sized companies have the same advantages as the bigs, in terms of knowing what's out there and what's working," Klobuchar said.

Next Friday (June 24), HPIO is hosting a forum titled “Promoting Wellness and Prevention: Why Evidence-Based Practice and Creative Messaging Matter,” which will address ways to capitalize on opportunities to improve health and wellness in both communities and workplaces through collaboration, cutting-edge messaging and evidence-based programs.
