Ohio begins Medicaid EHR incentive program

Earlier this week Ohio opened its EHR incentive program for Medicaid providers (Source: “Indiana, Ohio Medicaid EHR incentive programs go live,” Health Imaging, May 5, 2011).

The program, which was included in the 2009 stimulus bill,enables Ohio physicians and hospitals that treat Medicaid patients to receive incentive payments after successfully adopting, implementing or upgrading certified EHR technology, according to a special section on the Ohio Medicaid website.

As of May 2, 15 states had launched their Medicaid EHR incentive programs, and seven states had issued incentive payments to Medicaid EPs and eligible hospitals, according to CMS.
