Ohio to get $394k CDC grant for public health

Ohio is expected to receive $394,111 from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the agency announced yesterday (Source: “CDC grants $42.5M to help build public health departments,” MedCity News, Sept. 22, 2010).

According to a CDC press release, the grant funds are part $42.5 million to be awarded nationally as part of a five-year Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure for Improved Health Outcomes program that was outlined in the Affordable Care Act legislation that passed in March.

“These funds will help health departments around the country to improve the quality and effectiveness of the critical health services that millions of Americans rely on every day,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the release.
