Trustees report: Medicare in black through 2029

The federal government’s annual review of Social Security and Medicare found that although both programs face serious financial challenges, there appear to be on slightly better financial footing that they were in last year’s report (Source: “Social Security, Medicare still hurting, review finds,” McClatchy Newspapers via Columbus Dispatch, Aug. 6, 2010)

The report from the Social Security and Medicare trustees predicted that Medicare fund covering hospital services for the elderly would remain in the black until 2029, as opposed to the 2017 date predicted in last year’s report.
