Cincinnati hospitals release performance data

The Greater Cincinnati Health Council, a membership organization for hospitals and health systems, has released new data on hospital performance (Source: “Greater Cincinnati Health Council releases performance data,” Business Courier of Cincinnati, Dec. 16, 2009).

The site allows patients to review hospital performance in treating heart failure, heart attack and pneumonia, three conditions that are among the most common reasons for hospitalization.

“We’re proud of the fact than the Cincinnati area is the only place in Ohio where hospitals come together to voluntarily provide hospital-specific performance data to help patients make informed decisions about their hospital care,” said Colleen O’Toole, president of the Health Council. “This commitment to transparency and collaboration among 18 hospitals, including two in southeastern Indiana, is unique. It is clearly raising the quality of care not only at individual hospitals but for our entire community.”
