Administration seeking applications for new health council

A membership application for the newly created Ohio Healthcare Coverage and Quality Council has been posted on the state’s health reform Web site.

Earlier this month Gov. Ted Strickland signed an executive order (pdf) establishing the of the 26-member council, which is to be chaired by the Superintendent of the Ohio Department of Insurance.

Among the responsibilities of the council will be to advise the governor and General Assembly on improvements to health programs and policies; monitor and evaluate implementation of strategies for increasing access and improving quality of the health care system in Ohio and cataloging existing health care data reporting efforts.

Applications for membership on the Council must be received by no later than 5 p.m. on March 27, 2009.
