OSU, Columbus State launch health worker pilot

Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College have jointly launched a pilot program aimed at addressing the growing demand for health care workers in the state (Source: “New pilot program to guide community college students into health care,” MedCity News, Feb. 9, 2009).

According to a news release from Ohio State, student in the Pipeline to Medical Colleges Initiative will be enrolled in more challenging courses at Columbus State and will have an easier time transferring those credits to OSU. The program aims to both increase the number of health care workers overall in Ohio and also attract more African-Americans, American Indians and Latino students into the field.
