Strickland signs law tightening restrictions on pharmacy technicians

Gov. Ted Strickland, on Wedneday, signed “Emily’s Law,” which requires all pharmacy technicians in Ohio to pass a competency test and a criminal background check (Source: “Ohio governor signs 'Emily's Law' forcing standards for pharmacy technicians,” Cleveland Plain Dealer, Jan. 7, 2009).

The law was named in honor of Emily Jerry, a 2-year-old who died in 2006 at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland after an alleged error by a pharmacy technician.
