Akron voters can get flu shot at polling place

The Summit County Health District has announced plans to participate in the national Vote and Vax initiative that provides flu vaccination to voters at three polling place in the county (Source: "Voters may get a shot in the arm," Akron Beacon Journal, Oct. 30, 2008).

''It's such a struggle to get people to get immunized,'' said Traci Barnett, nursing supervisor for the Summit County Health District. ''We're trying to find any place to go where they are.''

The non-profit Vote and Vax program, through funds from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is offering flu shot clinics at 215 polling places in 32 states. The cost of a shot is $25 for adults and $12 for children.
