Claim denials top list of complaints to new ODI hotline

In its first six month, the Ohio Department of Insurance’s consumer hotline has fielded 1,429 complaints concerning health plans (Source: “Hot line can help with insurance complaints,” Columbus Dispatch, Aug. 17, 2008.)

About half, according to the Columbus Dispatch, were from people who said their insurance company did not pay for a claim. Among the other top complaints were unsatisfactory settlement offers and delays in processing claims.
