Wilmington hospital administrator frustrated with patients not paying their bills

In an opinion piece in the Wilmington News Journal, the president and chief executive officer of the Clinton Memorial Hospital Regional Health System expresses frustration at the number of patients who do not pay their bills in a timely manner (Source: “Your cable or your health?” Wilmington News Journal, Aug. 4, 2008).

“… (M)ore and more hospital patients seem to consider health care a service that does not have to be paid for at point of service if at all,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, we are not a bank, but one of the largest employers in the area with employees and bills who expect regular payments.“
