Survey finds health cost still top concern for small businesses

A national survey has found that the rising cost of health insurance still ranks as the No. 1 problem facing small business owners (Source: “Survey: Health insurance, fuel costs among top small biz burdens,” Dayton Business Journal, June 30, 2008).

The mail survey, which is taken every four years by the National Federation of Independent Business and Wells Fargo, revealed that 56 percent of small business owners consider health care costs a “critical problem.” The cost of health insurance has held the top spot in the survey for the past 20 years.
