Millions to be spent on health care political ads this fall

Special interest and advocacy groups are expected to spend at least $60 million this fall on advertisements pushing for universal health care coverage (Source: “Money, ads give health care top political billing,” Dayton Daily News, July 8, 2008).

A coalition of labor unions and Democratic-leaning organizations called Health Care for America Now announced plans for a $40 million campaign to promote affordable health coverage and, at the same time, AARP has announced plans to spend $20 million on a similar campaign on behalf of a coalition called Divided We Fail.
