More health plans and providers in Ohio posting quality and price data

This month Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Ohio and Ohio Health Corporation began making data on price of medical services or on hospital patient care procedures and satisfaction on their respective web sites (Source: "Anthem, OhioHealth join others in posting quality, price data," Business First,  May 22, 2008).  In the case of Anthem, the data is available only to members.  The Ohio Health Corporation has created a specific section on its website devotes to patient care procedures and satisfaction.

Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Mt. Carmel Health System plan to adopt similar disclosure practicies this summer.  The OSU Medical Center started releasing its data from federal surveys in late March.

Aetna, who has offered its members price information for physician offices since 2006, plans to add price data for hospitals in the Central Ohio region this summer.  Aetna also provides its members with a star system that rates physicians across a series of measures.
