Creation of central Ohio autism registry to aid treatment, research

Dayton Children's Hospital, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus are creating a "comprehensive registry of central Ohio and Wright-Patt families with autism spectrum disorders." (Source: "Federal dollars to help fund local autism research," Dayton Business Journal, Dec. 6, 2007.) The registry will provide better data for genetics research and therapies and treatment services for participating families; the project is being funded by $1.5 million in federal dollars, which were secured by U.S. Reps. Dave Hobson, R-Springfield, and Deborah Pryce, R-Columbus. The autism registry and gene mapping research will take place at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Autism therapies and treatments involving participating Wright-Patt families will take place at Dayton Children's Hospital.
